How "Compliant" Are Your Staff?

Just reading this article where a school construction company has been fined because they have been employing illegal immigrants.

Have a think about your own workforce for a moment - are you "legally" employing your staff?

Do they have citizenship? Do they have all their licences and permits to carry out their job legally? Have they gained the formal qualifications required to legally perform their duties?

More importantly, if you are audited and these questions are asked, how easily can you find the answers?

This is why a Total Compliance Integration system is vital to any business that may need to report on any aspect of their staff's training, formal qualifications, or something as simple as the fact that they are citizens and can legally work for the business.

Are All Your Permits Current?

Just reading this article where a non-compliant treatment plant has been forced to shut down until it has addresses the non-compliance issues that were identified by the governing compliance body.

This problem arose as a result of their compliance permit expiring.

This article raises two issues - the fact that the treatment plant's permit had expired and the fact that it was non-compliant.

This is a perfect example of why businesses should seriously consider the services of Total Compliance Integration.

Through the use of a Total Compliance Integration system businesses will be able to quickly identify servicing requirements for their equipment which will reduce the possibility of equipment breakdown.

You can also report on permit renewal dates well in advance of when they are due, so that you can ensure any plant or equipment is ready for any inspection required for the permit renewal.

It is impossible to calculate the cost of the plant being closed until it becomes compliant in this article - what would it cost your business if you were forced into a similar position?

The Importance of Accurate Recording

I am just reading this horrible article where a 59 year old miner has died after falling 15 meters while carrying out equipment maintenance at a mine site.

The article also talks about an enquiry that is currently underway in relation to safety in the mining industry and you can be certain that during the course of both the investigation into the miner's death and the mine safety enquiry that there will be a constant requirement for safety and training records to be handed over for examination.

It is an unfortunate reality that accidents liked the one highlighted in this article occur and as a result, it is vital from a business perspective to be able to report on procedures and training that are made available to assist staff in their work place.

If a tragedy like the one highlighted in this article occurred in your workplace how easy would it be for you to prove that you have done everything in your power to make your workplace as safe as possible?
